Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Building a community of destiny in cyberspace is a correct choice proved by practice.
Yesterday, the State Council Press Office released the white paper "Building a Community of Cyberspace Destiny Together". When introducing the white paper at today’s (8th) regular press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian pointed out that everyone is sharing weal and woe in cyberspace. We live in an era full of challenges and hopes. It is the common responsibility of the international community to develop, use and manage the Internet well.
Zhao Lijian said that at present, problems such as unbalanced development, imperfect rules and unreasonable order in the Internet field are increasingly prominent, and cyber hegemonism poses a new threat to world peace and development. Individual countries use the Internet as a tool to maintain hegemony, abuse information technology to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs and suppress their scientific and technological development and cooperation. Some countries engage in "small circles" to create division and confrontation in cyberspace, and "use the international rules of cyberspace reached by the United Nations, or abandon them if they disagree". China insists on mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and everyone’s affairs are handled through consultation. We resolutely oppose "zero-sum game", bullying, unilateralism, extreme pressure, and "building a wall and setting up a base" and "decoupling and breaking the chain".
The Internet is the common home of mankind, and the fruits of development should be shared by all. Building a community of destiny in cyberspace is a correct choice proved by practice. Not long ago, the First Committee of the UN General Assembly once again passed an information security resolution with a high vote, which once again proved that the above concept has been widely recognized by the international community. As the largest developing country in the world and the country with the largest number of netizens, China adheres to the people-centered development idea, mutual benefit and win-win, and advocates making the achievements of Internet development better benefit all mankind, working together to build a community of cyberspace destiny and create a better future for mankind.
